U.S. Initial Claims Decreased Last Week – December 8

Yesterday, December 8th, the U.S. jobless claims weekly report was published; the report showed a decrease in initial claims of 23,000 for the week ending on December 3rd; the total initial claims reached 381,000 claims (seasonally adjusted data); the four week average slightly decreased by 3,000 to 393,250; the insured unemployment rate declined by 0.2 percent points to 2.8% for the week ending on November 26th;  the number of insured unemployment fell to 3.585 million, a decrease of 174,000 compared with the previous week’s figure; the four week average on the fell by 20,500 to 3.667 million. This news might affect the currency forex trading during the day.

Currently the U.S. dollar is traded down against most major currencies including the Euro.

Euros to USD is traded down at 1.3380 a 0.2942 % increase as of 16:09*.

Canadian dollar to USD exchange rate is traded at 1.0208 a 0.2399% decrease as of 16:09*.

Current gold price, short term futures (January 2012 delivery) is traded at $1,718.3 per t oz. a $4.9 increase or 0.29%, as of 15:55*.
