U.S. Initial Claims Declined Last Week – December 22

Today, December 22nd, the U.S. jobless claims weekly report was published; the report presented a decrease in initial claims of 4,000 for the week ending on December 17th; the total initial claims reached 364,000 claims (seasonally adjusted data); the four week average decreased by 8,000 to 380,250; the insured unemployment rate also declined by 0.1 percent point to 2.8% for the week ending on December 10th;  the number of insured unemployment reached 3.546 million, a sharp decrease of 79,000 compared with the previous week’s figure; furthermore, the four week average declined by 40,000 to 3.671 million. This news might affect the currency forex trading during the day.

Currently the U.S. dollar is traded with mixed trends against major currencies.

Euros to USD is traded down at 1.3034 a 0.1034 % decrease as of 15:38*.

Canadian dollar to USD exchange rate is traded at 1.0229 a 0.3623% decrease as of 15:38*.

Current gold price, short term futures (January 2012 delivery) is traded at $1,606.8 per t oz. a $6 decrease or 0.42%, as of 15:27*.
